pOn Monday at 2222 hours the 502 fire box was struck for the building across the street from 299 Congress Avenue.nbsp Chief 5 Deputy Chief 5 Chief 5-1 Chief 5-2 Engine 512 Engine 513 Engine 514 Engine 515 Mini-Pumper 5 Rescue 5 Tower 5 and Utility 572 marked up shortly after alert.nbsp Deputy Chief 5 was first on scene at 2225 hours with heavy fire showing from the charlie side of a two story taxpayer.nbsp Engine 512 arrived immediately after led off from the plug at Congress Avenue and Market Street and pulled two pre-connected one and three quarter inch handlines.nbsp The crew made their way up an exterior set of stairs on the bravo side and began making a push in the charlie side apartment.nbsp Just after making their way in to the apartment the primary water source failed command requested crews to evacuate the building and also the second alarm assignment.nbsp After making their way out crews from Engine 512 and Engine 514 began knocking fire from the exterior.nbsp Once the secondary water source was established and the bulk of the fire was knocked down crews reentered the structure and began mopping up.nbsp While this was occurring other Hose Company amp mutual aide crews were throwing multiple ladders to the structure horizontal and vertical ventilation was being conducted and searches were under way.nbsp Primary and secondary searches proved negative and command placed the fire under control at approximately 2256 hours.nbsp Crews continued to open up and hit hot spots until clearing at 0135 hours.nbsp The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshals Office.nbsp Chief 5 Hurst held the quotMarket Streetquot command.ppMutual Aide Units On Scenepul liE211li liE213li liE215li liTW231li liE113li liCecil Engine Tanker 6li liM591liulpSeveral photos courtesy of Nicewander Photo amp Laura Sweattp
