Just before 4:30pm on Monday, the SHCo was dispatched for the reported boat on fire at the Havre de Grace City Yacht Basin, 352 Commerce Street. Crews arrived and found a 32 foot vessel well involved at pier 6, with extension to two neighboring vessels. Several handlines were quickly placed in service, along with Marine 5 flowing from the water, which quickly brought the fire under control. Crews continued to overhaul the vessels, hitting hot spots, while command requested Harford County DES Hazmat & the Maryland Department of the Environment due to fuel run off. Maryland Department of Natural Resources & the United States Coast Guard were also requested to the scene.
4 Engines, 2 Aerials, Rescue Engine, Marine 5, Utility 52, Utility 52, 4 Chiefs and Safety 5 all responded, with an on scene staffing of over 50 personnel.
