BOX ASSIGNMENT AT HARFORD MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

 September 29, 2006

On Friday morning just after 0330 hours the Hose Company was alerted for a report of a building fire at Harford Memorial Hospital. Deputy Chief 5 Chief 5-1 Chief 5-2 Engine 512 Engine 513 Engine 514 Mini-Pumper 545 and Tower 531 called enroute shortly after alert. Dispatch advised all units that they received a call stating there was a heavy odor of burning on the 4th and 6th floors of the hospital. Chief 5-2 was first to arrive with nothing evident followed by Engine 512. Engine 512s crew entered the building and confirmed there was a heavy odor of burning. As remaining units were arriving Engine 512s crew found a towel on fire inside of a trash can on the 2nd floor. Command then held the response to Engine 512 and placed all other units available. Deputy Chief 5 Packard had the Harford Memorial Hospital command.
