BUSY DAY FOR THE SWIFT WATER TEAM

pHeavy rainfall across Harford County on Wednesday kept the Hose Company Swift Water Team busy. nbspThe Hose Company Team ran a total of 10 calls two of which were in Havre de Grace and the other 8 stretching across Harford amp Cecil Counties. nbspAttached is a recap amp pictures of a rescue made in Joppa on Winters Run.pdiv classMsoNormal stylemargin 0px font-family arial helvetica font-size 13pxThe storm of April 30supthsupnbsp2014 brought many challenges to Harford County Rescue personnel especially the SwiftwaterTactical Rescue Team TRT.nbsp Coming out of the Susquehanna Hose Company Swiftwater 586 with Boat 553 and the portable life raft were dispatched on their first call aroundnbspspan classaBn data-termgoog145163341 tabindex0 styleborder-bottom-width 1px border-bottom-style dashed border-bottom-color rgb204 204 204 position relative top -2px z-index 0span classaQJ styleposition relative top 2px z-index -1300pmspanspannbspat Winters Run.nbsp An elderly gentleman had been caught in the rivers water and was stuck in his motor vehicle.nbsp Upon arriving there were approximately 8 other Swiftwater Technicians from other companies on scene along with Command.nbsp Four technicians had already walked the half a mile through about 2 feet of water and were with the victim.nbsp Since we were the first arriving boats Susquehanna Hose Company quickly launched boat 553 and the life raft. nbspUnfortunately the water on the road was not deep enough to run the motor on 553 though the team attempted many times.nbsp The boats were carried by hand to the victim.divdiv classMsoNormal stylemargin 0px font-family arial helvetica font-size 13pxnbspdivdiv classMsoNormal stylemargin 0px font-family arial helvetica font-size 13pxThe life rafts crew were first to make contact with the victim.nbsp They gave the gentleman a life jacket and helped him into the boat.nbsp The crew then walked the boat back to safety along side boat 553.nbsp The victim had no injuries and was happy to be on dry land again.divdiv classMsoNormal stylemargin 0px font-family arial helvetica font-size 13pxnbspdivdiv classMsoNormal stylemargin 0px font-family arial helvetica font-size 13pxAfter clearing the previous call along Winters Run another call came in about a mile away from the first.nbsp Two young individuals attempted to cross a large body of water and their car became stuck halfway through.nbsp The two victims were only about 150 feet away from dry ground so the Susquehanna Hose Company dispatched our life raft and 5 Swiftwater Technicians.nbsp Once reaching the victims the team gave them life jackets and helped them into the raft.nbsp They were pulled out successfully.nbsp One of the individual was having trouble walking and was taken to the hospital for examination.divdiv classMsoNormal stylemargin 0px font-family arial helvetica font-size 13pxbrdivdiv classMsoNormal stylemargin 0px font-family arial helvetica font-size 13pxOverall two successful rescues saving three victims. nbspThank you to Bill and Gail Reeder Rick Sova and Ryan Nilsen for their assistance in these rescues.divpp
