Harford County Government and the Department of Emergency Services placed another county medic unit into full-time operation on Tuesday morning. This ambulance will be staffed by career EMS providers and stationed at Susquehanna Hose Company’s House 3 on Market Street in downtown Havre de Grace. It is the second county ambulance stationed in Havre de Grace; the other is at Havre De Grace Ambulance Corps on Level Road.
“It makes us better, it makes the county better, and really, at the end of the day, it’s all about our citizens,” Steve Gamatoria, chief of staff for the City of Havre de Grace said, speaking on behalf of Mayor Bill Martin and the city council.
The fire company has said for the last five years a second transport unit was needed in the city, and when the opportunity came, “we jumped all over it. We’re happy to have you here and anything we can do to help you, let us know and we’ll help you,” SHCo President Joe Miller said.
Harford Director of Administration Rob McCord said the county is happy to have the fire company on board.
