DEPUTY CHIEF 5, CHIEF 5-2, ENGINE 512, ENGINE 514, ENGINE 515 & MINI-PUMPER 5 ON THE BASEMENT FIRE IN LEVEL

 July 12, 2007

On Wedneday night at 2050 hours the box alarm was struck for 203 Northway in the 154 box area. The initial assignment brought Company 1 and the Fastest Volunteers with an Engine Mini-Pumper 5. Shortly after the initial assignment was struck the Hose Company was alerted for a second Engine to respond as the RIT assignment. Deputy Chief 5 Chief 5-2 Engine 512 w7 Engine 515 w5 and Mini-Pumper 5 w2 marked up shortly after alert. At 2053 hours the Fastest Volunteers were alerted for a third Engine to respond which brought Engine 514 w6. Lieutenant 1-9-1 Orf was first on scene at 2050 hours with heavy smoke showing from a single story dwelling. Shortly after arriving Lieutenant 1-9-1 upgraded to a working basement fire. Engine 113 was the first piece of suppression to arrive at 2054 hours followed by Tanker 121 at 2055 hours. Upon the arrival of the two Chiefs three Engines and Mini-Pumper Hose Company crews were assigned various tasks including placing hand lines in service ventilation checking for extension salvage and overhaul. At 2133 hours command advised the fire was knocked and crews would be opening up and checking for extension. After approximately 15 minutes of crews checking for extension command began placing units available. Hose Company crews remained on scene until 2227 hours and then cleared. Chief 1 Gallion had the Northway command. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshals Office.During the incident Engine 513 and Tower 5 remained attended in station and Cecil County Engine 613 relocated to House 5.
