On Tuesday morning the Hose Company was alerted for an Engine Tower to assist on the working building fire at the La Quinta Inn in the 216 box area. Deputy Chief 5 w2 Engine 514 w4 and Tower 5 w9 marked up shortly after alert. Engine 215 was first to arrive with smoke showing inside from the motel. Part of Engine 215s crew found an office room off next to the motels banquet hall. The Engine crew put a quick knock on the fire and began ventilating. The other part of the Engines crew began a primary search where they found several rooms still occupied with sleeping guests. As Engine 514 and Tower 5 arrived they were instructed by command to handle various tasks including assisting with evacuations and ventilating the building. Crews remained on scene for approximately one and one half hours and then cleared. Chief 2 Reith had the West Bel Air Avenue command.
