On Monday morning at approximately 0430 hours the Hose Company was alerted for an engine to respond on a working dwelling fire in the 407 box. Chief 5-2 and Engine 514 called enroute shortly after alert. Dispatch advised that several Harford County Sheriff Deputies were on scene with heavy fire showing from a dwelling next to William Paca Elementary School on Philadelphia Road. Truck 1232 was the first arriving piece of suppression and confirmed the inital reports. Engine 514 arrived shortly after and assisted crews with salvage and overhaul. Chief 4 Bair had the Philadelphia Road command. Units on scene Engine 411 Engine 412 Engine 312 Engine 514 Rescue 451 Truck 1232 Chief 4 Chief 4-1 Chief 5-2.After Engine 514 was alerted for the 407 box all remaining Hose Company Stations were attended. At approximately 0500 hours the box assignment was put out 1222 Battery Drive. Deputy Chief 5 Engine 512 Engine 513 Engine 515 Mini-Pumper 545 Rescue 551 and Tower 531 called enroute shortly after alert. Dispatch advised those units that the caller reported smoke in the dwelling however no evidence of fire. Engine 513 was first to arrive and advised of nothing evident from a 2 story middle of the group. Engine 515 arrived shortly after and crews found light smoke conditions on the interior. As remaining units were arriving and upon further investigation it was found that there was a furnace malfunction which was giving off smoke. Command held Engine 513 Engine 515 and Tower 5 on the scene and placed all others available. Deputy Chief 5 Packard had the Battery Drive command.
