On Saturday at 2020 hours the HazMat assignment was struck for the 700 block of Pulaski Highway bringing the Fastest Volunteers and the Harford County HazMat Team. Chief 5 Chief 5-2 Engine 515 Mini-Pumper 5 and Tower 5 marked up shortly after alert. Dispatch advised all units that they received a call from Havre de Grace Police advising of a large amount of a white substance in a creek next to the Terrace Garden Apartments and that it was possibly paint. Chief 5 was first to arrive and advised of a white substance in the stream. As remaining Hose Company units were arriving and after further investigation it was found that the substance was actually 50-60 gallons of dairy product originating from the local McDonalds. It was found that McDonalds had cleaned their ice cream machine and proceeded to dump the dairy product in a nearby storm drain. Command then held Engine 515 on the scene at which time they were instructed to dump their 1000 gallon tank in the storm drain to flush the dairy product. Hose Company units remained on the scene until 2117 hours and then cleared. Chief 5 Hurst had the Pulaski Highway command.
