On Monday at 2058 hours, the Hose Company and Company 5-9 were alerted for the 10-50 PI on US-40 (Pulaski Highway) in the area of Otsego Street. As units marked up, Harford County Fire Dispatch advised that Maryland State Police was involved in a pursuit from Cecil County, which ended with a single vehicle crash at the intersection. Engine 512 was first on scene at 2102 hours, confirmed a single vehicle crash vs. pole and advised CPR was being performed on one of the occupants. As other units (Q535, E514, E515, CH51, DCH5) were arriving on scene, command reported multiple priority one victims and requested four additional EMS units and two medevacs. Hose Company crews assisted EMS with the victims, controlled a spill from the vehicle and extinguished a small fire in the engine compartment. All crews remained on scene until the patients were transported and Engine 512 remained on scene assisting police with lighting until 2302 hours. Chief 5-1 (Carroll) held the command.
