Congratulations to Firefighter D’Andrew Everetts-Richburg for passing MFRI Firefighter 1 and being awarded his black shield. Within two hours of receiving his new shield, D’Andrew had the opportunity to operate as an interior firefighter on a reported dwelling fire. Strong work, D’Andrew!!
Prior to completing the MFRI Firefighter 1 Course, members are outfitted with a yellow shield on their helmet, signifying that they are exterior personnel only. Upon completion of the course, they are awarded a black shield for their helmet & are allowed to conduct interior firefighting duties.
