Just before 0730 this morning, the SHCo was dispatched for the reported house fire in the 700 block of Market Street. Deputy Chief 5 was quickly on scene & extinguished a small fire on the porch. Crews then checked for extension, which proved negative. The cause of the fire was improperly discarded smoking material.
As a reminder, be sure that any type of smoking material is fully extinguished prior to discarding it.
