At 7:31 a.m. this morning, Susquehanna Hose Company was dispatched for a reported house fire in the 800 block of Market Street.
Rescue Engine 5 & Engine 514 arrived first on the scene, at 7:34 a.m., to find fire showing from the exterior of the historic Currier House. Crews quickly initiated an aggressive fire attack, knocking down the exterior fire before discovering that it had extended into the structure and traveled through the walls of the building.
Firefighters conducted extensive overhaul operations to locate and extinguish all remaining hidden fire, ensuring the incident was brought under control before beginning to pick up equipment and return units to service.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
