On Sunday at 0035 hours, the 0553 Fire Rescue Box was dispatched for the reported house fire with people trapped, at 100 Snow Chief Drive. As units were marking up, Harford County DES advised they received a report of a townhouse on fire and a male possibly trapped. Chief 5 was first on scene, at 0042, with smoke showing from the two story middle of the group, with the reported basement fire, & requested the Working Fire Dispatch. Chief 5-2 & Quint 5 were next on scene, at 0043, and stretched to the rear, where they found fire on the exterior extending in to the basement. After a quick knockdown of the exterior, the Quint’s crew went inside to begin opening up & to conduct a primary search of the basement (proved negative). Some minor extension was found, however was held in check by the sprinkler system. As this was occurring, crews carried out the following tasks:
- Engine 513 – stretched own line to division 1, incase of extension above
- Engine 512 – primary search of divisions 1 & 2, followed by secondary search in subdivision
- Engine 514 – secondary search of divisions 1 & 2
- Tower 5 – opened up to check for extension
- Deputy Chief – Side C
- 2nd Assistant – Ops
- Safety 5 – controlled utilities
- Engine 112 – assigned to division bravo to check for extension
- Engine 113 – RIT
- Tower 2 – ladders
All searches of the dwelling proved negative & the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal.
