On Sunday at 0124 hours the box was struck for 107 Vandiver Court in the 504 box area. Chief 5 Deputy Chief 5 Chief 5-2 Engine 511 Engine 512 Engine 513 Engine 514 Engine 515 Mini-Pumper 5 Rescue 5 Tower 5 Utility 572 and Utility 575 marked up shortly after alert. Chief 5-1 who was enroute to House 4 for the engine advised dispatch of heavy fire showing from three blocks away. Engine Company 514 was first on the scene at 0129 hours with heavy fire showing from the single story duplex and advised they had their own hydrant. Engine 514s crew placed a one and three quarter inch hand line in service and advanced it through the front door where they found heavy fire and smoke conditions through out the dwelling. As remaining units were arriving they were instructed by command to carry out various tasks including a primary and secondary search of the dwelling horizontal and vertical ventilation extinguishing salvage and overhaul. All hands were working for approximately thirty minutes at which time command placed the fire under control. Crews continued checking for hot spots and conducting salvage and overhaul for an additional two hours. Hose Company crews remained on scene until approximately 0430 hours and then cleared. Chief 5 Hurst had the Vandiver Court command.
