Just after 0030 this morning, the SHCo was alerted for the motor vehicle crash with injuries in the 2100 block of US-40 (Pulaski Hwy). Chief 5-1 was first on scene and reported a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed struck a tractor trailer and came to rest in the median. As the roof had been pulled away during the crash, crews had direct access to the patient and requested medevac after a quick evaluation. Crews assisted EMS personnel from Aberdeen Fire Department, Inc.with patient care and secured a landing zone at the scene. The patient was then loaded in Maryland State Police – Aviation Command Trooper 1 and transported to Shock Trauma. Engine 512, Engine 513, Quint 5, Deputy Chief 5, Chief 5-1 & Chief 5-2 remained on scene until 0130, with Rescue 5 assisting police with scene lighting until 0230. Chief 5-1 held the command.
