On Saturday evening the Hose Company held their Annual Awards Banquet at the Havre de Grace Community Center. Members and guests began arriving the Community Center at 1700 hours for a social hour and the banquet began at 1800 hours. The evenings festivities were kicked off by a welcome from President Packard who introduced the toastmaster for the evening City of Havre de Grace Mayor Wayne Dougherty. Following the introduction of the toastmater Chaplain Roth President Packard Vice President Cullum Chief Hurst Deputy Chief Packard presented the families of Charles McLhinney and Earl Glassman with flowers in memoriam of the fallen SHCo members. Chaplain Roth then went on with invocation and dinner was served. Members and guests enjoyed a buffet style meal and an open bar which was followed by dessert. After dinner toastmaster Dougherty introduced special guests of the evening. Those in attendence were local politicians members of mutual aide companies and several other special guests. The festivities continued with a slide presentation of the past years events both action and off duty by Fastest Volunteer Productions. The Ladies Auxiliary then presented two rescue manikins and a smoke machine to Chief Hurst as part of their yearly gift to the Hose Company. Following the ladies presentation Chief Hurst gave his 2007 Fire Chiefs report. It then came time for the awards portion of the evening. Chief Hurst Deputy Chief Packard Assistant Chief Carroll and Assistant Chief Allers gave out several community service and outstanding service awards. Chief Hurst then presented his 2007 Chiefs awards to Deputy Chief Packard Assistant Chief Carroll and Assistant Chief Allers for their continued support and all of their hard work throughout the year. The four Chiefs and a representative from the Record presented Firefighter Scott Pentz with the Record Firefighter of the Year Award. Scott was awarded for his hard work and dedication with not only being the Captain of House 5 during 2007 but also for continuing to assist the company in anyway possible. The Susquehanna Hose Company Firefighter of the Year Award was then presented by the four Chiefs to Firefighter and Safety Officer 5-3 Mark Gorham. Mark was presented with this award for his outstanding effort with the Safety Team his hard work with the SHCo Investigation Committee and for writing several grants for the SHCo. Congratulations to both Scott Mark. Following the awards portion of the evening it came time for the installation of the Administrative Officers by Mayor Wayne Dougherty and Fire Line Officers by President of the Harford County Volunteer Fire EMS Association Albert Cubby Bair. Several proclomations were then given out by local politicians to several Hose Company members. The Banquet then came to a close with benediction by Chaplain Roth. Members and guests then enjoyed the dance portion of the evening which was put on by D.J. Jeff Thompson.The Hose Company would like to thank all those that attended and also the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.
