Date of Release September 14th 2005 On Saturday Septembernbsp17th from 10am until 1pm at the Level Volunteer Fire Company locatednbspon Level Village Road off of Level Road MD Rt. 155 the volunteernbspfire companies of Harford County will be collecting fire equipment andnbspsupplies to assist fire departments in Mississippi who have beennbspdevastated by the effects of Katrina. Assistant Chief JeffnbspStandiford of the Level Volunteer Fire Company recently received anbsprequest for aid from the Office of the Assistant Chief of the BiloxinbspFire Department. Chief Standiford had placed his name on a website listnbspto help and was contacted almost immediately. He was told that the firenbspdepartments in Biloxi area have been left with absolutely nothing tonbspoperate with and solicitations from across the country were currentlybeing accepted for assorted fire equipment and supplies. Withassistance of Chief Jason Gallion also of the Level Volunteer FireCompany and Assistant Chief Scott Hurst of the Susquehanna Hose Companythe efforts began to coordinate a collection day with gear hose andhand tools being the primary focus. Assistant Chief Standiford saysThis is our way of helping our fellow brother and sister firefighterswho have lost everything. These people are our family too. Once theequipment is collected and accounted for on Saturday it will be loadedonto a truck for transport or possibly even flown to a collection anddispersal site in Mississippi.
