On Tuesday evening Engine 512 and Cecil County Engine 613 loaded up and traveled to the Baltimore County Fire Rescue Academy in Sparrows Point for some live fire training in their High Temperature Room. The room that was utilized for this training is covered in tiles like those used in the Space Shuttle. Once at the facility safety checks were completed and a walk-through of the building was conducted. Two 2 1 34 lines were placed in service with a smoothbore nozzle at the end. Crews were split into teams of 3 with each team rotating in and out of the burn room atleast twice. Teams were led into the burn building by FFs Chrisy Liddell Craig Triplett. Once in the burn room the instructors Liddell Triplett explained the stages of fire direct and indirect attack and the effects the different attack methods had on fire. Each crew member had a chance to operate the pipe so they could experience first hand what the effects were. Once the training was over crews racked up and headed home. FF Liddell even got to play Chauffer on the way home All teams worked very well together and a good time was had by all.
