Packard Sr. of the Susquehanna Hose Company Inc. release the following statement.The Susquehanna Hose Company was informed Friday September 21 2007 that a probationary member of the company has been charged with arson in relation to a fire at the Havre de Grace Library. In accordance with Company policy and procedures the member has been suspended from all activity related to the Hose Company pending a final resolution of the charges. The incident occurred August 22 2007. The Hose Company has fully cooperated with the Havre de Grace Police Department and the Maryland State Fire Marshalls Office during their investigation. The Fire Marshalls Office continues to investigate this incident and the Company will continue to fully assist in any way we can. Chief Hurst and President Packard regret this occurrence but wish to enthusiastically express their full support and appreciation of the services provided by this all volunteer company. The Hose Company has been in service to the community for over 100 years and continually provides dedicated emergency service to the Citizens of the Havre de Grace area.During the Operational phase of the investigation and incident Chief Hurst was the point of contact for the Company.
