Just after 11pm, Marine 552 was alerted as part of the 0270 Water Rescue Box for the report of a male trapped in the mud on Maid’s Island in Swan Creek. As units were marking up, Harford County Fire Dispatch advised they received a report that a male had been stuck in mud on the island for approximately eight hours. Rescue 251 was first to arrive in the area of Country Club Road & Creek Road, and was able to make verbal contact with the subject. Due to the depth of the water in Swan Creek, command then requested Marine 553 to be alerted to make access to the island. Marine 553 quickly made their way to the island, loaded the patient on the boat via a reeves stretcher & began transporting the subject to EMS on shore. The priority one patient was then transported to a local hospital with hypothermia symptoms by Paramedic 1294. Battalion Chief 2-3 (Sexton) held the “Swan Creek” command.
