On Sunday afternoon the Hose Company was alerted for report of a Sea Plane crashing into the Susquehanna River. Deputy Chief 5 Chief 5-1 Rescue 551 Utility 571 Dive Unit 585 Swiftwater 586 and Marine 552 called enroute shortly after alert. Dispatch advised those units that they received several reports of a sea plane crashing into the Susquehanna River and there was one subject in the water. Deputy Chief 5 was first to arrive and confirmed the initial reports. As remaining units were arriving the scene command advised that a boater in the area had pulled the pilot from the water. The pilot was then moved from the citizens boat to Marine 552 and was transported to land. The pilot was checked by EMS personnel on the scene however the pilot refused any type of transport to the hospital. Units remained on the scene for a few more minutes and then cleared. Deputy Chief 5 Packard had the Susquehanna River command.
