Just before 0830 this morning, the Hose Company was dispatched for the report of a water rescue in the Chesapeake Bay in the area of Concord Cove. As units were marking up, Harford County Department of Emergency Services Dispatch advised they received a report of an overturned kayak with one male in the water. Just as units were approaching the scene, dispatch advised that #SHCo Fireman Grant Morris was in the area on his kayak and was able to pull the male from the water, while also retrieving the man’s kayak, and brought him to shore near the Concord Cove Apartments. The subject was then evaluated by Havre De Grace Ambulance Corps, where he later denied transport. Great job Grant and to all crews involved!!
Quick update to this story – we’d also like to recognize Grant’s 12 year old son, Nathan. He quickly sprung to action to assist his dad helping this gentleman. Great job, Nathan!!!
