On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 1455 hours the box alarm was struck for 136 Martha Lewis Boulevard in the 542 box area. Chief 5 Chief 5-1 Chief 5-2 Engine 511 Engine 512 Engine 513 Engine 514 Engine 515 Rescue 5 Tower 5 marked up shortly after alert. Dispatch advised the Fastest Volunteers that they received a report of smoke on the third floor of a townhouse. Chief 5 was first to arrive at 1457 hours with nothing showing on the alpha side of a three story end of the group and established the Susquehanna Command. Shortly after his arrival command upgraded to smoke in the dwelling. Engine 514 arrived shortly after and began investigating the dwelling. Crews found heavy smoke conditions on the third floor and advised command to have the next arriving engine crew check the basement for a possible furnace malfunction. Engine 512 was next to arrive and make their way to the basement. Upon further investigation crews found that the filter in the furnace had caught fire however was now out. Command then instructed Tower 5 to set up a positive pressure fan for ventilation and held the assignment to two and one. Crews remained on scene until the residence was vented and then cleared. Chief 5 Hurst had the Martha Lewis Boulevard command.
