At 0800 hours this morning, Hose Company members gathered at the Havre de Grace Elk’s Lodge for breakfast before heading to the Super Bowl Sunday Drill at an acquired dwelling in the 400 block of North Stokes Street. After breakfast, crews and apparatus returned to their respective stations where they were then dispatched to a reported dwelling fire with people trapped as part of the drill. Hose Company crews have been training at the acquired dwelling over the last couple weeks and wanted to simulate as if we were responding from our respective stations for a reported house fire. Crews carried out the first evolution by forcing entry, simulating fire attack, throwing ladders, conducting searches and removing “victims” from the dwelling, under smokey conditions by use of a smoke machine. After the first evolution was completed, crews broke down in to three groups and rotated through three stations which included vertical ventilation, ascending & descending a ladder while carrying hand tools and breaching interior walls.
It was a great training opportunity for all those who attended & we’d like to send a special thank you to the Elk’s Lodge for hosting us for breakfast.
