Just before noon today, Engine 514, Rescue Engine 5, & Engine 513 assisted Company 2 with a house fire in the 400 block of Baltimore Street.
First-arriving units from Company 2 reported fire showing from a two-story dwelling. Crews quickly went to work and were able to bring the fire under control. The cause of the fire was determined to be a malfunctioning e-bike.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
This incident serves as an important reminder to always follow battery safety guidelines when charging or storing e-bikes and other lithium-ion battery-powered devices.
