Over the past weekend The Hose Company had Traditions Training in town to teach a RIT class. The 16 hour class included 4 hours of classroom 12 hours of hands on intense training and 23 dedicated volunteers and 3 Members of the Perry Point Fire Dept. Members of the company taking the class ranged from a Probie 2 weeks in to the Deputy Chief. With an acquired structure given to the Company from Perry Point the class went above and beyond the expectations of the training committee who set the class up and the members faced with the intense scenarios and skills. Saturday consisted of about 4 hours of classroom with the remainder of the day focused on dragscarries removing victims out of windows assessment of a down FF and search with some extreme conditions such as reducing profile entanglement air management climbing over and under objects and wall breaching. Sunday consisted of all day hands on starting with some more skills the Denver drill wall breaching removal of a down firefighter and tag line operations. After a quick lunch the students where put right back to work with scenarios for the rest of the afternoon. The first scenario consisted of a firefighter from an engine company that had fallen through a floor and was trapped under debris. The RIT was deployed after the LUNAR report was given. The RIT followed the sound of the pass device only to come to a dead end. With DC Packard conversing with the FF on the radio it was determined that the FF was near a set of stairs. The FF began to tap his tool which lead the RIT to the basement. A second RIT team was deployed do to the RIT 1s air. RIT two determined that the FF had fallen through the set of steps and that an attic ladder was needed to reach him. RIT 3 was deployed bring in the ladder. RITs 2 and 3 made it to the basement and made contact with the FF. RIT 2 was forced to exit do to air and RIT 3 remained beginning to extricate the FF from the debris and wires in which he was trapped. RIT 3 had to exit and RIT 4 was deployed RIT continued the efforts to disentangle the downed FF. The disentanglement of the FF would take a total of 4 crews making contact with the victim before he was removed from the debris and drug to the bottom of the attic ladder for removal out of the basement. With obstacles through out the dwelling entanglement hazards and the steps taken out this scenario would prove to be very difficult and demanding of all crews involved. It was a lengthy operation however all crews gave their all and there was no quit in anyone until the FF had been removed. The second scenario was a truckie that had fallen through the roof and was now believed to be located on the second floor. After the LUNAR report RIT 1 was deployed with 4 members a set of irons tag line and the RIT bag. With time management pounded into the heads of students all weekend Team 4 decided to make the most of their time waiting and began throwing ground ladders to all sides of the dwelling. Just as RIT 1 was giving a location on the downed FF RIT 4 could hear the PASS device from outside and was putting a ladder in place to the second floor BravoCharlie corner. RIT 1 took the window out and RIT 4 was running the rope up the ladder for removal of the FF out the window. With the FF on the way out RIT 1 was calling for another ladder for the removal of the crew from the second floor. RIT 4 also had a ladder at AlphaBravo which was brought right over and RIT 1 was out. This scenario from start to finish was just over 10 minutes.
