Just before 0130 this morning the Hose Company, along with Havre De Grace Ambulance Corps, Water Witch Volunteer Fire Company, Perry Point Fire Dept & Maryland Department of Natural Resources, were alerted for the reported water rescue in the Susquehanna River just off Perry Point. Fire-Rescue Boats arrived shortly after dispatch and confirmed a 20′ boat, with six souls onboard, had struck an object and was taking on water. Crews quickly removed those onboard, loaded them on to the Fire-Rescue boats and transported them to land, where they later refused EMS care.
Despite the positive outcome, this is a reminder that operating a boat at night is extremely dangerous & should be avoided at all costs.
