Just before 9pm last night, the Hose Company along with Cecil Marine 11, Cecil Marine 5, Havre De Grace Ambulance Corps and Aberdeen Fire Department EMS were alerted for the water rescue in the Susquehanna River in the area of the Amtrak Bridge. Initial reports advised that a male fell from a kayak and was being taken down river. As crews were searching the area for the victim, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police & Cecil Marine 11 located the subject just north of the bridge and quickly removed him from the water. The subject was then transported to shore to be evaluated by EMS, where he later refused transport to the hospital. We’d like to thank all agencies involved for their quick response and for saving a life. As a reminder to our citizens and followers, ALWAYS wear a personal flotation device while on the water and refrain from boating activities at night if possible.
