On Wednesday night at approximately 2345 hours the Hose Company Cecil County Marine 11 were alerted for the water rescue in the area of Sand Island in the Chesapeake Bay. Deputy Chief 5 Chief 5-2 Utility 571 towing Marine 552 and Rescue 5 marked up shortly after alert. Dispatch advised all units that they received a call from the Department of Natural Resources Police who advised of an unconscious subject on a vessel in the area of the island. Hose Company units arrived Tydings Park shortly after marking up and Marine 552 was launched. Marine 552 Cecil County Marine 11 reached the vessel shortly after launching and found a vessel that had struck a sand bar with an unconscious female on board. After further assessment of the patient command requested aviation for transport. Marine 552 transported the female to Tydings Park at which time crews met up with Trooper 1 and the patient was transported to a Baltimore area Trauma Center. Crews remained on scene until Trooper 1s departure and then cleared. Deputy Chief 5 Packard had the Chesapeake Bay command.
