On Tuesday afternoon the Hose Company was alerted for the woods fire in the area of Interstate 95 the Millard Tydings Bridge. Chief 5 Chief 5-2 Engine 512 Engine 515 Mini-Pumper 5 marked up shortly after the alert. Dispatch advised all units that JFK Highway Police contacted them and advised of a woods fire in the area. Chief 5 was first to arrive and made contact with a JFK Trooper. Chief 5 located a 75×50 woods fire at the bottom of the bridge along the bank of the Susquehanna River. Chief 5 then advised that Engine 515 Mini-Pumper 5 would be able to handle. Crews from Engine 515 the Mini rigged a safety device to make access down the hill. Crews assembled a 500 134 inch line down the hill and began knocking the fire. As all hands were working command requested Marine 552 to respond non-emergency to pick up tools at the bottom of the hill. Marine 552 marked up immediately after alert and arrived shortly after. Crews were on the scene for approximately 90 minutes and then cleared. Chief 5 Hurst had the Interstate 95 command.
