On Sunday morning at 0455 hours the Hose Company was alerted for 2 engines to respond to the scene of a working dwelling fire 15 S. Rogers Street in the 212 box area. Engine 512w9 and Engine 514w9 marked up by 0458 hours. Engine 215 was first to arrive 0500 hours with heavy fire showing from a 3 story balloon style construction dwelling with atleast 3 occupants trapped and requested two additional engines which also brought Engine 515w9 to the scene. As Company 2 units were rescuing the occupants from the dwelling Engine 512 was instructed by command to hit a nearby plug and have their crew report to the scene. Engine 514 was instructed to have their crew report to the dwelling and pull an 1 34 inch handline. As both Engine 512 and Engine 514 arrived 0505 hours both engines crews advanced 1 34 handlines into the dwelling for extinguishment. Engine 515 arrived 0511 hours and received instructions from command to check for any extension. At 0537 hours while crews were inside working a flash over occured on the 2nd floor trapping Captain 5-2Goll Firefighter Billy Lawder Firefighter Scott Padgett and Firefighter Dan Turner. Captain Goll and Firefighter Padgett had to bail out of a window on the 2nd floor head first down a ladder while Firefighters Lawder and Turner were able to exit the dwelling by a nearby staircase. At 0538 hours command advised that all the firefighters had been extricated from the dwelling and all crews were accounted for. Also during this time Chief 5-2Carroll suffered a medical emergency and was transported to Harford Memorial Hospital. Luckily none of the 4 firefighters trapped were in need of a transport to the hospital. Hose Company units were committed to the scene until 0817 hours and then cleared. Chief 2Hinch had the S. Rogers Street command. The Officers and Members of the Hose Company would like to ask to keep Chief 5-2 in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. An Aberdeen Police officer was also transported to a Baltimore Trauma Center for injuries sustained on the scene of the fire. Please keep all those involved in your thoughts and prayers.
