Just after 9pm last night, the 0505 fire box was transmitted for the reported house fire in the 500 block of Old Bay Lane. Deputy Chief 5 was first on scene, reported smoke showing from a large three story dwelling & requested the working fire dispatch.
As part of incident pre-planning throughout our first due area, responding crews were aware that the primary hydrant was over 2000 feet away & instructions were provided to setup a long lay, involving a relay pumper.
As crews were getting the water supply established, the crew of Engine 514 made their stretch to the second floor and began knocking fire. The crews of Engine 512 & Quint 5 followed them up and assisted with opening up. As remaining crews made their way to the scene, they continued to check for extension, which was found on the floor above.
Crews continued to work & pickup until just after 1am. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
