Just after 1:30pm today, multiple calls were received by the Harford County Department of Emergency Services 911 Center reporting a house on fire in the 100 block of Deaver Street. The 0504 fire box was then transmitted, dispatching the SHCo, and Aberdeen Fire Department, Inc. & Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire & Emergency Services for an Engine Company each. Chief 5 was first on scene with fire showing from the one story duplex, which resulted in Level Volunteer Fire Company and Harford County EMS being alerted as the Working Fire Dispatch. As the crew from Engine 512 made the push, they encountered extreme hoarding conditions, which hampered extinguishment. Due to the hoarding & lack of progress as a result, command ordered an evacuation of all crews. After a PAR check was completed & the fire was darkened down from the exterior, crews resumed interior firefighting efforts. The fire was placed under control, with crews conducting extensive overhaul after approximately an hour. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal. No injuries were reported.
The SHCo responded with five Engines, both Aerials, four Utilities, two Chiefs and the company Safety Officer, with a total of 38 members on scene.
