On Monday afternoon at 1553 hours the box was struck for 300 Commerce Street at the Bayou Condominiums in the 503 box area. Chief 5 Deputy Chief 5 Chief 5-2 Engine 512 Engine 513 Engine 514 Engine 515 and Tower 5 marked up shortly after alert. Dispatch advised all units that they received a call reporting heavy smoke coming from the rear of the building with the possibility of a deck on fire. Engine 512 was first to arrive at 1557 hours with nothing evident from the three story apartment building. Engine 512s crew made their way to the charlie side of the building where they found a mulch fire with exposure to a deck. Engine 512s crew pulled their booster line and began knocking the fire. At 1559 hours command held the assignment to Engine 512 placing all remaining units ready. Engine 512 remained on scene until 1609 hours and then cleared. Chief 5 Hurst had the Commerce Street command.
